NOW! connects the socio-political struggles of the past with those of the present. The word, including its distinctive typeface, is appropriated from a civil rights protest poster made for the 1963 March on Washington. Removed from its original context, NOW! retains its force as a direct and urgent declaration.

The work draws attention to the persistence of social and political struggles across time. While the original protest emerged from a specific historical moment, the word NOW! remains open-ended, carrying its sense of urgency into whatever context and moment in which the work is encountered.

By separating the word from its original historical setting, I allow it to function simultaneously as a reference to the past and as a response to the present. Each exhibition reactivates the work, giving NOW! a renewed sense of immediacy and inviting the viewer to consider what demands, conflicts, and possibilities require attention in the present moment.
